Cerveja do Brasil: Brahma

Today’s beer originates from the land of samba, football and white sandy beaches filled with beautiful women drinking ice cold beer. Well, at least this is how I imagine it to be (it must be those beer commercials). I haven’t been there yet, so until then, I will keep this image of Brazil.

Brahma

The appearance of this beer was no surprise due to the transparent bottle. It contained a clear golden lager, which poured out with a finger of white head, settling down very quickly. The smell is very light; I could only point out a mild presence of grains, and that’s basically it. The taste follows what the nose discovered. It is light, sweet nad grainy, with some sort of metallic zing to it. The aftertaste could do with a bit more bitterness to it.

Brahma is a decent and refreshing beer, but only if you drink it ice cold. Otherwise it becomes somewhat tastless and repulsive. Found that out after a couple of well chilled bottles. I don’t know if this is the best Brazil has to offer, but I do hope they have some better ones there.
