Authentic Egyptian: Stella Lager

Aaaahhh… this beer brings back some memories from my holidays in Egypt. Not just the Pyramids (which are amazing by the way) but also lying on the sandy beaches, slowly sipping the ice cold Stella next to the beautiful Red Sea.

Stella Lager

Stella Lager, which was first produced in 1897 (as the label says), has a typical clear and golden color, and a finger of white head, which settles down to a white ring pretty quickly. It has a decent malty aroma which is followed by a mild and sweet taste. It finishes nicely with a hoppy bitterness. So, nothing unusual or out of the ordinary.

Despite its ordinariness, Stella is a pretty decent lager which will quench your thirst in the hot Egyptian sun. During my holidays, it was probably the best thing in the world, but all depends on the situation, of course. Give it a try. You won’t be able to find it in the stores, but only in the bars.
