North African Legend: Celtia

Today I bring you the first beer from Africa that I had the opportunity to try. I got it from a friend of mine when he returned from his Tunisian holiday.

  • Name: Celtia
  • Brewery: Societe Frigorifique et Brasserie de Tunis (SFBT)
  • City: Tunis
  • Country: Tunisia

Celtia

Celtia presents itself with a pale yellow, golden color, and is topped with a decent white foam, which settles down quite fast. Initially, you are hit with a skunky aroma, which is later replaced by a gentle hoppy smell, which is exactly what you want from a lager. The taste is slightly watery and sweet at first, and finishes with a bitterness in the aftertaste.

I must say, Celtia is very easy to drink and also very refreshing, probably even more so on the hot sand of the Tunisia’s beaches. A very nice and enjoyable beer from the northern shores of Africa.

  • Style: Pale Lager
  • ABV: 5%
  • Ingredients: water, malt, corn, sugar, hops
  • Slogan: “La légende vous parle!” (The Legend Speaks to You!)
