I will give it to you straight. This Estonian beer’s best quality is its octagonaly shaped bottle, which makes it a pretty nice addition to my collection. And this is also the only reason I bought this beer.
- Name: Viru
- Brewery: A. Le Coq (Olvi)
- City: Tartu
- Country: Estonia
Viru presents itself with the uniquely shapped bottle, which is a very nice touch, but sadly its content is far from being unique. It pours out with a familiar pale golden color, and it tops the glass with a relatively small white head which settles down quickly. The smell is exactly what you’re used from other lagers – a grainy and malty aroma, with a very faint addition of hops. The taste is sweet, but without the needed bitterness in teh aftertaste. It is very light and watery (almost too much), which makes it a great refreshment, but not a very tastey beer. Just your average lager.
